Compared to circuit breakers, SSPC has a lower thermal profile. This is based on the low on resistance of switch MOSFETs, which can be further reduced by connecting multiple MOSFETs and/or SSPC channels in parallel to switch the current to the same load. In addition, solid-state switches eliminate power losses in relay coils, solenoids, bimetallic plates, as well as contact resistance in circuit breakers and relays.
